Over the past year, there has been an alarming increase in the number of reported incidents of antisemitic violence and harassment in the United States.
Workman, its imprints, and its distribution partners unequivocally condemn antisemitism, as we condemn hatred and bias in all its forms.
A list of support resources, organizations to donate to and reading recommendations can be found below.
To support the Jewish community, Workman is taking the following steps:
We are making a corporate donation to the Anti-Defamation League, which has been fighting antisemitism and hatred since its founding in 1913.
We will be offering bystander intervention training to all staff so we can learn how to safely intervene if we witness an act of antisemitism taking place.
We are offering an allowance to all Workman employees to purchase a book to help us better understand this complicated topic.
It is sobering to realize that this is the third statement of its kind that we’ve felt compelled to release in a year. On the one hand it shows our commitment to the principle of tikkun olam—the Hebrew phrase that means “repair the world”—which has been an integral part of Workman’s culture since its founding. On the other, it’s a stark reminder of how much more work needs to be done.
