I’m learning to love mysteries by reading Lawrence Block’s Bernie Rhodenbarr series. They’re about a gentleman burglar who runs a used bookstore in the Village.

Bookmarks–usually stubs or receipts.
Book you are most ashamed never to have read
I haven’t read so much: Moby Dick, most of the big Russians, Jane Austen. Still working on being ashamed.
Favorite childhood book
Was more of a TV kid. Cartoons. Mostly read joke books and Mad/Cracked/Crazy.
Alternate ambition
Well, I teach freshman composition, so I am engaged in one alternate ambition.
Better to have loved and lost or never to have loved at all?
Even if you love and lose, you still come out ahead. (The accounting can sometimes seem tricky, though.)
What Workman book would you like to receive as compensation for your involvement?
50 States, for my nephews who love state trivia and maps.
