I’ve always found there’s something comforting about picking up a pencil and drawing. I forget about everything around me. I’m in the moment, feeling the blank sheet underneath the nib, hearing the sound of the lead scratching the surface of the paper.

And it’s the same with coloring in. Maybe it’s a feeling of childhood nostalgia, spending a few hours deciding on colors, filling in shapes and scenes, taking a moment to sharpen my pencils as they’re worn down. Soon I find time has passed and life is suddenly more calm.

I’ve been encouraged that my previous Mindfulness Coloring books have already reached a million people worldwide, and many have reported that the space for coloring in that they’ve provided has helped them to feel relaxed and more at peace. I’m excited to now be sharing Moments of Mindfulness! You’ll find more illustrations to color in—with inspiration ranging from a trip to Kyoto filled with cherry blossoms to the bluebells in Kew Gardens, and even my daily groceries—but I’ve added a twist to about half of these illustrations. Sprinkled throughout are easy “mindful exercises.” To give you a sense: One of the exercises I often practice is on the Tube (the subway or train to you, in North America!), after what’s felt like a busy, long day. I like to meditate on the sounds around me. Being in a noisy car is perfect. I mindfully hop from sound to sound . . . whoever thought one could find peace from thoughts in a noisy train? And then, before I know it, I find that I’ve arrived at my destination with a clear mind.

Wherever you go, take this book with you and color, create, and play. It takes only a few moments to feel better, and I hope this book will give you the opportunity to find more such moments in every day.
